Google business profile (GBP) posting

Google Business Profile is the listing that appears when someone searches for the business on Google or Google Maps. Posting to it regularly is one of the highest value things a local business can do, and it is also the thing most businesses forget to do.

What it is

Google Business Profile is the listing that appears when someone searches for the business on Google or Google Maps. Posting to it regularly is one of the highest value things a local business can do, and it is also the thing most businesses forget to do.

NexoFlow connects to Google Business Profile and publishes updates to it on the same schedule as the rest of your content.

Note: Google Business Profile used to be called Google My Business. Customers often still say GMB.

Where to find it

Sidebar > Content > Social & Channels (to connect locations) Google Business Profile also appears as a target channel when creating content.

Connecting

1. Go to Social & Channels. 2. Connect Google Business Profile. 3. Sign in with the Google account that MANAGES the listing. 4. Choose which location(s) to connect.

You must have manager or owner access to the listing in Google. Being able to see the listing is not enough.

Multiple locations

A business with several branches can connect several locations. Each location is connected individually and can be switched on or off on its own.

Each location can also carry its own context notes- services, city, audience- so a post for the Dallas branch reads differently from the Austin one.

How many locations your plan allows

Solo ......... 1 location Starter ...... 1 location Pro .......... 10 locations Agency ....... 50 locations Enterprise ... effectively unlimited

Extra locations can be purchased as an add-on without changing plan tier.

How GBP posts are written

Google Business Profile posts follow different rules from social posts, and NexoFlow writes them accordingly:

  • Maximum 1,500 characters; the strongest posts run 700 to 1,300.
  • No raw URLs in the text. Google shows the link on a native call-to-action button instead, so pasting a link into the body just looks broken.
  • A call-to-action button is added where appropriate. Available buttons: Learn more, Book, Order, Shop, Sign up, Call.
  • Posts are written as standard updates. Event and Offer posts require real start and end dates, so those are created manually rather than generated.

If you write your own GBP text and include a URL, NexoFlow moves the URL onto the call-to-action button and takes it out of the body automatically.

Automatic review replies

Each connected location can automatically reply to new Google reviews. This is covered in detail in google reviews. In summary:

  • It is off by default. You turn it on per location.
  • You set a minimum star rating for automatic replies (4 stars by default). Anything below that gets a draft reply for you to approve, never an automatic one.
  • You can give it a tone hint, e.g. "warm and grateful, mention our 15-year warranty".

Common questions

What is Google Business Profile posting good for?

It keeps the business's Google listing active with fresh updates, which is one of the most effective local SEO habits and one of the most commonly neglected.

Is Google Business Profile the same as Google My Business?

Yes. Google renamed it. Same thing.

I connected Google but no locations appear.

The Google account you signed in with must have manager or owner access to the listing. Viewer access is not enough. Check in Google Business Profile who the listing's managers are, then reconnect with the right account.

Can I post to more than one location?

Yes, depending on your plan. Solo and Starter allow one, Pro allows ten, Agency allows fifty. Extra locations can be bought as an add-on.

Why is there no link in my Google post?

Google shows links on a call-to-action button rather than inside the post text. The link is there- it is on the button.

Can NexoFlow create Event or Offer posts on Google?

Those need real start and end dates, so they are created manually rather than auto-generated. Automatically generated posts are standard updates.

My GBP posts stopped publishing.

Google access expires periodically, and a listing that is being re-verified, was moved, or was suspended will also reject posts. Check Social & Channels for a Reconnect prompt.

Does it reply to my Google reviews too?

It can, if you turn that on per location. google reviews.

Troubleshooting

SYMPTOM: "Location not found" or posts stop working

Google returns this while a listing is being re-verified, after it has been moved between accounts, or if it has been suspended. NexoFlow does not disconnect on the first failure- it waits to see if the problem persists. Check the listing's status in Google Business Profile itself first.

SYMPTOM: Location list is empty at connection time

The signed-in Google account lacks manager/owner rights on the listing.

SYMPTOM: Posts publish but do not appear on the listing

Google reviews some posts before showing them, and rejects content that breaches its content policy. Check the listing in Google Business Profile for a rejection notice.
